1. How to download games to PSP? The first step is to get a Memory Stick. You will want to purchase a large size then the 32MB stick that came with your PSP. If you will be using a new Memory Stick you must format it first.

4. Connect your PSP to your computer using the USB cable that came with it. Now put your PSP into USB mode. Now press the Home button and scroll left to the Settings column. Scroll down to the USB Connection and press X.

5. How to download games to PSP? You are now ready to copy the game onto your PSP. Copy into folder “H:PSPGAME” where H: would equal the drive of your PSP.

Step 1

Connect your PSP with your personal computer. If you are not sure how to do that, simply continue reading this paragraph or else jump to step#2. You can start by connecting both your PSP to your personal computer by using the USB cable that was provided when you first purchased the PSP console. On your PSP console, change the mode by pressing on the “Home” button. And you follow next by scrolling left to the “Setting” column and then scroll downward until you find “USB Connection”. Press “X” button to enter PSP into USB mode. This will complete the connection between your PSP and personal computer.

Step 2

You computer will prompt you that a removable hard disk has been detected. And it will continue to register it on your “My Computer” windows. Open up that latest removable drive and you can start transferring your PSP games file into the correct path or else the games simply will not work. The correct path is PSP>GAME (all the folder names are in caps), if the file do not exist create it manually.

Step 3

Once the PSP game files have been completely transferred into your memory stick on the PSP unit, disconnect the PSP from your personal computer. From your PSP main menu, simply scroll towards GAME and then select Memory Stick option. Press “X” button to enter, and the list of available games stored inside your memory stick will be displayed on the screen. If you encounter any error prompted by your PSP, the games you have chosen might not be compatible with your PSP firmware version.

Depending on your PSP unit version of firmware, all downloaded games are designed to run on a particular firmware version. So you must always check your PSP firmware version before searching for games to download. Like many others who had purchased original PSP games from the retail outlets, you will realize that as the games is completed, buying new games seem to be getting expensive and unaffordable. What else can I do if I want to continue to play new or old fashioned games on my PSP console? I start search and looking for website that offers

Once I had downloaded the PSP games onto my console, how to play PSP download games was my next question. I’m not sure exactly how PSP works when I download new PSP games onto the unit, but I sure have found some
answers while I was looking for it. Since I’m facing and struggling with this problem on how to play PSP download games on my unit, lots of other people must be also getting the same problem.

Hope that I get this right for everyone to play PSP download games because I used the same method here to play on my console. Before we get started, I’m using a PSP unit with firmware of 1.5 and having a Sony PSP
compatible memory stick pro duo.

Since you are going to download the PSP games, you must download the games for the correct version of firmware, if not it will not work. Newer version of the firmware is available to anyone from the PSP official website. Most homebrew PSP games works with firmware 1.5 and below because the newer firmware upgrade is trying to block people from using homebrew games. Make sure the games you are downloading ends with PSP because only PSP files are compatible with Sony PSP unit.

And for firmware upgrade at anytime, you may need to download a newer version of the games to be compatible with the firmware. Otherwise error messages like “The data is corrupted” or “The game would not be started” will display on your PSP screen.

Once the PSP games are downloaded, connect the PSP to your computer by using the USB cable that comes with the PSP console. Change your PSP console into PSP mode by pressing the “Home” button. Next scroll left to
the “Setting” column and scroll down until “USB Connection”. Press “X” button to enter PSP into USB mode.

To download the PSP games into your console, the games must be copied and downloaded onto the correct folder in order for the games to work. And the correct path is PSP > GAME in order for the any PSP games to work correctly. If the “PSP” and “GAME” folder does not exist on your PSP memory stick, you need to manually create the folder with folder name in ALL CAPS.

Once you have finished downloading or transferring the games onto the PSP memory stick, you can disconnect your PSP from the computer. From the PSP console main menu, scroll over to the “GAME” column on your Sony
PSP and continue to scroll down on the memory stick. Press “X” and a list of game files will be displayed. Scroll downward and you will be able to see the games you have just installed.

Press “X” again to confirm your selection and play the PSP games. I had tried to practice the steps above many times in my PSP and it worked all the time. Hopefully it will also work for your PSP console too.

The most important factor you need to know in downloading games onto PSP, is where you are going to download the PSP games from! The number of free download sites numbers in the hundreds of thousands. You need to be very wary of which site to choose, as a lot of these sites will give you downloads that will not work properly, often at incredibly slow speeds, and sometimes with malware attached. Stay away from these dishonest and dangerous sites. These dishonest people will change filenames just to hoodwink people into downloading their own programs, so you need to be very watchful.

Once you have the game on your computer, it will need to be transferred to your PSP. The memory stick you are using needs to be big enough to handle the game. What you must do is attach the computer to the PSP using a USB cable. Keep the PSP switched off until you have made the connection. When you switch the PSP on, the computer will hopefully recognise the PSP as a kind of removable drive, and it should be visible in “My Computer.” From there you just need to double click the PSP to gain access to its memory stick from the computer, and the game files can then be copied and pasted from the computer onto the memory stick of the PSP. One thing you need to know is that games must go into a file called PSP, and then one called GAME, so you need to have these folders on your machine. If you don’t, then create them first.

That is really everything you have to do to download games onto your PSP. As soon as the files are on the PSP you can launch them by opening up the GAME menu and selecting the game you want from the choices available. You can get error messages at this point, and these often happen because of incompatible firmware.
